Pop and pour; saved half in a 375ml bottle and re-corked and refrigerated. Tasted with food and also on its own. Tasted over two days. Ruby garnet color. Nose offers blackberries and wisp of smoke (toast). The blackberry fruit predominates - almost zinfandel-like - expcet in a with lighter weight and texture. The wine tastes like it was made in a pinot noir manner - with low intervention and gentle pressing. There is a bitter and astringent element on the finish that is a distraction. Perhaps it is alcohol (which usually presents itself as sweet); 14.5% abv. Interesting wine. Different than the many nerello mascalese wines I have tasted from Etna/Sicilia.

PnP. Slightly musty nose with black raspberry, cola, and tea leaves. Punchy, hard-to-describe palate - there's dark red fruit, thistle, blood orange and all sorts of unusual fruit and floral flavors. Tacky textured tannins on the finish with orange tea, tangerine peel, and rustic dark berry flavors. A sun-kissed and ripe take on the Nerello Mascalese grape, without the minerality and lightness of the Etna original. Enough here that this can age buy it's nice now.

14.5% abv. Dark transparent ruby, very aromatic. Red cherries, leather, white pepper and earth. Very intense with long-lasting flavors. A bit of a tannic edge, but not intrusive. Medium bodied. Extremely enjoyable now and should improve over the next half decade or more.

Color: interesting medium garnet with purple streaks Nose: very powerful, with blueberry, blackberry, cherry under spirit. Fairly ripe. There then is potted soil and leather, licorice Palate: very intense, again. Medium-high acidity, medium-high tannins that carpet the tongue, gums, teeth. We are not quite in nebbiolo territory but there is grip here. This has a sweetness to it too, i would go so far as to call this almost full bodied. Texturally it's sleek. Confirms the nose aromatically Finish: medium-long
So much fruit, so intense. This is just promising in my view. The vines are young, and there are only very few vintages here. This will be a very interesting wine. It relates to Italian Etna Rosso pretty much in the same way as Californian Pinot noir a relate to the originals from Burgundy. More fruit, more intensity, acidity is less of a main character. I'll try to get a few of these every vintage and save some for a while, really curious. For now this is great on the p&p and gets better with an hour of air. Cool room temp is fine

Fascinating. Elegant red fruit and lots of bright, bright acid. Also, a lengthy and appropriately dry finish.
