Community Tasting Notes (2)

  • Solid cork. Beautiful and appropriate color - paling at the rim. This wine is fine - with lovely balance in its components. There is the restrained aromatics that is Taillepeids - quite dark red and mysterious. The fruit on the palate is quite pure - not too many savory or woodsy notes interrupting a line of ripe mixed fruit with quite a lot of depth. There is concentration in a natural way. The fruit is perfectly ripe - but only just as with the best 1993s. Impeccable acid and the tannins are really well managed with only a hint of dryness. Corroborating evidence that Taillepieds holds up really well. This still has some lift. Serious Cote de Beaune red of considerable interest. Bought on release

  • Robust deep ruby, touch of tawniness throughout, and a good colour to the rim. Nose is bright and floral - just a trace of VA - with nice blackberry/mulberry fruit and a trace of sousbois. Clean, well poised mouth entry. Nice and full and firm on the midpalate with gamey and black fruit flavours and a touch of spice. Well balanced finish of good length. A delightful mature wine. ***
