Lower elevation compared to Applejack, the Sexton vineyard at Gruyere is at 130-210 metres. Planted in 1997, its on the slopes of a hill with East, North and West facing aspects.
Fresh raspberry nose with a marginally more muted nature compared to the Applejack which has 1 year more bottle age.
Cherries and red fruit on the palate with refined tannins and moderate acidity, the vanilla in the oak is well balanced too. Distinct cola notes too!
I have to say this is marginally more balanced compared to Applejack!

Moderate ruby in the glass. First time I detect a muted nose on any GS wine, strange. Not much going on on the palate either - quite simple and forgettable wine. Still pricey though.

Easy to drink and appreciate.
Fruit forward with balanced acidity & rather saline forward finish.

Very open and enjoyable pinot. It reminds me of Oregon pinot. Great fruit profile, will satisfy many. Not crazy complex but very good wine
