whites from Austria, Alsace, and the Mosel: yellow with green flashes and medium body in the glass. rich, ripe and reductive on the nose… while the funk goes away, the mango, papaya, woody nuttiness remain with whiffs of smoke and slate. dry and silky in the mouth and contrary to what the nose would suggest, it is quite reticent and shy at the moment. white and yellow stonefruit flavours develop mid-palate with hints of salt, marzipan and spice, and buoyed by a clear acidity. long finish the veers to sweet.
a rich style of Grüner that seems to be built for the cellar… can't say i got a good read on it. i would want to revisit it in a couple of years.
13% AbV; fermented in 300L oak and acacia barrels, then further aged in 2,500L oak and acacia mega barrels

Wonderful Whites of Germany, Alsace, Austria (K&L Wine Merchant - San Francisco): A strong aroma of cotton candy, like a mountain of it that completely buries the deep yellow fruits underneath, and some dried tree bark.
Similar cotton candy on the palate but much more subtle, with quiet fruits and bland and dull minerals.

Yellow. Oak and sulfur aromas, not very attractive. Medium weight. All I can get out of this is the wood. No.
