Late bottled and purchased from a Marques de Caceres master class 2017. Brick color, light to medium. The nose is excellent. You get to realize the 33 years of maturity with wood, light vanilla, leather, spices, dry fruits and smooth tobacco. The palate though is a bit disappointing. The great nose disappears and a much more close bouquet with less and soft tastes of dry fruits, sand and earthy elements comes up. The body is medium with an average acidity that slowly softens. This wine was very well preserved but already at the down side. Still gives a good enjoyment of a super mature Rioja.

This bottle was a late release (2014) from the winery. Literally superb - fresh, fully resolved, complex. A real delight and one of the best Rioja's I've had in many a year.

Rather disappointing considering that this is a Gran Reserva because it's rather simple and pretty anonymous. Is this made in the modern style? Could have been made anywhere. I probably need a re-taste.

2011 Casual Session - 9 @ ES (Extra Space Boon Keng): Alcohol :: 12.5% Served with Riedel O Bordeaux. Lots of sediment in this brick red color wine. Soft perfume aromas of sweet chocolate, plum and dried fig paste, mature nose, not complex but quite attractive. Fresh, smooth with some depth but quite straight forward with lightly spices infused finish. Not bad, suggest to drink this sooner than later. Buy - Maybe.

G6 (Dale): Brick red color. Mature red fruit with some eucalyptus. Mature blackberry and raspberry fruit. Fresh acidity. Chewy finish.
