  This pours medium garnet in the glass with light bricking. The nose remains mellow but nicely mature and complex over the course of several hours followed. Aromas are of dried strawberry, leather, vanilla, toasted coconut shavings, dried citrus slices, a touch of cranberry, sweet cedar mulch, and a light grilled pork note. The palate is nicely integrated with dried strawberry on entry. Tannin is medium minus and quite velvety in texture with medium plus acid keeping this focused and fresh. The finish is medium in length showing crushed rock and a coconut vanilla note that almost leaves a little pina colada note with a touch of cigar tobacco and cedar. All in all this is really nice stuff and for a modernist this comes across as quite traditional. This is drinking really nicely right now though I'm sure it will remain on this plateau for quite some time.

  Placed under Private Preserve (inert gas) for 20 hours. Day two - No longer better than the '91 Riojanas Monte Real Reserva. While this gained a nice dill element, it lost some oomph and also rounded into something less precise. Based on this bottle, drink now. It's so good, won't get better, and may not hold. -2022
