  • Quickly double decanted for sediment. A near opaque in the glass, the nose features ripe plum, cassis, tar, and leather. This is certainly still alive. Hints of dried fruits on the palate, including raisin and prune, with iron, citrus, and a suggestion of tomato leaf. Certainly past peak with tertiary notes, but this was certainly drinkable and paired with the slow-cooked rib roast quite well.

  • The cork, nearly soaked through, came out in multiple pieces. Poured through a strainer as a result. A dark ruby-garnet in the glass, with unexpectedly excellent color out to the thinning edges; no signs of bricking. Mature nose, featuring ripe red plum, red alpine currant, mahogany and orange peel. Medium-bodied on the palate, slightly oxidized, with no remaining tannins. However, still very much alive at 25 years of age. Have one more and will open when would like to expose others to an aged, mature Napa/Sonoma cabernet sauvignon.

  • This bottle of wine is old enough to drink a bottle of wine. At 21 years old I had no expectation it would be as good as it is. Very bordeaux-like with less intensity and stinkiness. Mostly secondary - earthy, leathery, tobacco, dried cranberry. Dark purple, very little bricking on the rim. It's youthful but is past it's prime and on the way down. Cork was in great shape. The average price paid is $35 for this, and it's a steal.

  • Oh yeah...you know you're in for a treat the moment your nose gets wind of the glass. In the glass: beautiful dark purple with no bricking on the edge...this baby has a few years left but is at peak now. On the nose: a symphony of pleasures, cherries and dark berries, cream, fresh leather, moist tobacco, and pomegranate. On the palate: Silky leather and blackberry cream and inky cassis. A nice long finish with a hint of sweet red bell pepper...not off putting like some green bell pepper can be. All in all a world-class wine. I would happily pay 2-3 times what I paid for this wonderful wine.

  • This is an epic rendition of 1994 Cab. Not old at all. Amazing depth and layers with a long finish. Enjoy now.
