  • Decanted. Now 3h after decant. Lactic notes on the nose w gamey meats, lavender, some minerals and a touch of bark. Palate w crushed blackberries, game meats, bark, a touch of earth and lavender, some black olives, herbs, and some minerals. Excellent acids on a full body. Moderate, ripe tannins come to the fore on mid to back palate. Excellent concentration and depth. Nice finish of tart blackberries, game meats, and herbs. There's a nice balance and the concentrated fruit really buffers the tannins here. But there's also a lot lurking underneath. Honestly, I shouldn't have opened this bottle as I only have one left and should have opened this bottle on its 10th birthday. I think there's more complexity to come w age. Open last bottle at age 10+.

  • Decanted for 3h the day before and 1/2 bottles placed in 375 ml bottle. Now day 2. Mild lactic aromas w blackberries and unripe blueberries, game meats, some bacon fat and damp earth. Palate w mild lactic notes up front followed by tart blackberries, gamey meats, cranberries, earth. Excellent acids on a medium+ body w med+ tannins. Excellent concentration. Nice moderately short finish of lactic notes, blackberries, game meats and earth. Doesn't taste like it's from a solar year. The acids really lift the wine and makes it feel lighter than it is. I like this but it's also young. Can go 10-15 yrs easy and will likely gain in complexity and better integration. Will need it get several bottles in future to follow it's evolution. 90+
