Opened 45 minutes before tasting. Deep, almost inky ruby. Tight nose of cherry, clove, leather. Juicy in the mouth, cherry, blackberry, vanilla. Shortish finish; not overly tannic, but what's there is a little coarse. Significantly better after open for a full two hours. Good now, should be a little more elegant in a year or two. I wouldn't go out of my way for it, but it's got good typicity and respectable QPR.

Beautiful developed aroma with dark fruits, wet leather and prunes. Flavors are the same with more force compared to the pretty aroma. It has good balance now, but it shows its youth in the mouth with slight, fine unresolved tannin and a lack of harmony. It has medium acidity, medium body, a ripe, plush feel and a soft, lingering finish. Very good overall with upside. Give it a couple of years.

Needs a bit more time to integrate the wood. Meanwhile, along with the bright cherry fruit I find clove, sandalwood, broccoli (!), cranberry, and earth. Good acidity but the finish is pretty short. I actually prefer the cheaper non-riserva from '06, which is a purer expression of sangiovese.

Almost over the hill but still good for my old, old world taste buds. A hint of cherry, a touch of forest floor with a nice dry, dusty finish.
