These old-ass Selvapianas are always so much fun. This is really complex and surprisingly light. Nose has foresty mulch, cherry cola, and a hint of menthol. Palate is bright with slight acidity. Lots of cranberry and dank; cedar, vanilla, strawberry, lavender, bergamot. Clean but lingering finish.

Really Old Chianti (Sunfish Cellars): A small pour at a tasting served alongside a few others. About 1/4" of bricking. The color on the 1978 was one of the lightest reds I've ever seen. The nose on all these wines are spectacular. Extremely complex, all different yet similar to each other. This was my least favorite of the group, but I wouldn't kick it out of bed. I'm not paying $100+ for these old wines, but they complexity in spades. Nose is a 93, palate is 87.

At Jess and Matt's 'Wedding.': Dried out red cherry fruit. Brown leaf. No tannin, a little more than medium acid. Not just crying for food. No real oxidation to speak of, no nutty notes. Dare I say more fruit than earth, while not loads of fruit, also not just an earthy/brown leafy bomb.

Ancora agrumi.
