Colour: medium(-) translucent ruby Nose: medium(+) intensity, secondary, youthful. Strawberry, raspberry, cranberry, pomegranate. Melon, mint. Cola, cedar, sweet spice. Dried herbs, hay, tobacco, stemmy. Liquorice, cough syrup. Palate: dry, medium tannins, medium(-) acidity, high alcohol (15%), medium(+) bodied. Medium intensity, medium(-) length finish. Strawberry, raspberry, cranberry, pomegranate. Melon, mint. Cola, cedar, sweet spice. Dried herbs, hay, tobacco, stemmy. Liquorice, cough syrup emerged with air. Seemed quite light and simple on first opening, but opened up with air. Conclusions: very good. Can drink now, but suited to further ageing. P&P (pop&pour), not decanted. Seal: natural cork.

Decanted for 3 hours. Explosive nose of strawberry, cola, melon, raspberry, herbs and some tobacco. Light, elegant and juicy with pleasant acidity and grippy tannins, but definitely could feel the heat from the 15% alcohol and the finish was on the short side with some bitterness. I’m a big fan of these Sierra de Gredos garnachas and it feels like there is upside potential here. Will try again in a few years but still feels like good QPR at $28 considering what entry level Comando G goes for these days.
