Interesting wine that started as a little medicinal on the nose but opened up in the glass to show notes of vanilla, spice, chocolate and coffee with a little bitterness on the finish.

Ruby with only a hint of lightening at the edge. Cherries, forestfloor (not to ne confused with being corked), licorize, mulberry, flowers in an almost burgundy style. Better on the palate as in the bouquet. Smooth with most tannin shed and nice acidity that keeps it fresh and animating, very long aftertaste. The 89 points from the WA in 2012 (Neal) are as strict as the 96 points from Parker himself (1997) are generous. It well-deserves a better rating from my point of view, because of its complexity, not because of its power. It benefits from decanting and airing. If the corks holds through, it will keep till 2025 at least from a textbook cellar. This bottle was aged in a wine-refrigerator at 11°C since its release.

Wow! Impossible to believe that this wine is 22 years old. Deep bluish colour With only a hint of Brown at the rim. Almost port-like at the nose: dried fruit, figs, pine forest, mint. Full bodied, round and smooth tannins, lots of fruit in the middle (dark berries and dried fruits), some alcohol on the finish but not in a negative way. Long aftertaste dominated by sweet fruit, eucalyptus, dry Wood. Almost like a top Australian wine without having that "heaviness". Great wine. Thank God I forgot some bottles in the cellar.

Brown Bag Wine Dinner at Two Chefs - Double Blind: The wine looks purple colored. The legs are slow. It smells like raspberry, blackberry, lead pencil, black pepper and tobacco. The body is full. The wine finishes long. Pablo's wine.

This bottle was somewhat off, perhaps a little corked. Last one, sadly.
