Community Tasting Notes (5) Median Score: 90 points

  • Deep inky purple with slight staining and high viscosity (14.5% ABV). The nose has medium intensity aromas of baked blackberry cobbler with vanilla, warm spices and nicely browned crust. Mulberry and açaí berry follow with some mint and black tea notes. The palate has medium acidity, a full body and medium tannins. Medium (+) flavors of dark fruit, toasty oak, a slight bitterness from the tannins that have finally gripped and some heavy layers of mint/acai/vanilla that go on to a medium (-) finish. A very delicious wine with decent structure - 90 points. Drink till 2028 with grilled tenderloins. A blend of 50% Malbec, 24% Merlot, 11% Syrah, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot makes this $20 bottle a 5 star effort.

  • This wine clearly divides tasters. I think it is as good as ever. My notes for the 2014 (and earlier vintages) would describe this wine quite well.
This was tasted young and fresh; it needed a bit of time to show but had all the fruit, body, acidity, tannin, and spice to be great with beef bourguignon. Big, long, well-extracted and still improving when we finished it a few hours after opening.
It needs time to show its best. Good value. 90 at this stage.

  • Bra balans, men aningen för sträv/pepprig.

  • Year in and out, this wine overdelivers. Punches way above iits price - great QPR

  • Hideous. Concentrated grape juice spiked with a garish, burn-your-nose amount of alcohol. Nasty and literally painful.
