Blind Pinots (Prairie Grass Cafe): Served blind to friends. Super attractive nose has fresh red cherry, herb and stem. The palate is bright and layered with purity of fruit and pleasing spice tones. Group split on old world / new world but most guessing a younger wine. Great stuff from Cristom.

Off the wine list, Canlis, Seattle. Medium bodied; translucent ruby color. Raspberry and black cherry, along with earth on the nose. Red fruit, stems on the palate, more savoury than fruity. Tannins still hanging in, which surprised in a wine this long in bottle. Medium finish. Paired with chanterelles and steak, very nicely.

Color is medium to dark maroon with thining approx 1/4" around rim. Nose is very fresh, spice, briar fruit, faintest hint of licorice, faintest hint of blood orange; more buttery than smokey. Legs are thin but very, very slow. This concentration is carried through to the palate. Fruit is still sweet, mildly plush, with great concentration. Buttery, but with fairly clean tanins (perhaps just a tad unresolved bitterness/greeness on the finish). The acid braces the fruit nicely on the midpalate then disappears. Faintest hint of carmel on the finish. It seems to show minor tertiary notes that have a mild Burgundian taste (iodine and iron, but only a hint). The finish is rather abrupt and uninspired, hence the sub-90 score. Sadly, it does seem to be showing the faintest hint of age. Based on my and previous notes, if you have any in your cellar it would seem prudent to drink it up. Doubt it's going to improve at all at this point.

Nice wine but on the downslope. Colour is showing some tawny notes. Fruit remains but is dried and secondary. Some fig, earth and faded red fruit. A little hot on the finish. Interestingly this did open a little but has seen better days. Bought from the winery in magnum format.
