  • EDIT: On day 2, the Villero blossomed into a very interesting wine aromatically, although I stand by this being much less interesting than some of the better vintages like 2013 or 2016. I found very cool-toned aromatics of eucalyptus and other cool herbs, orange peel, mint, anise, and cool red and blue toned fruit, showing more herbal notes than fruit. On the palate, the Villero is pretty clenched, but shows a nice sweetness and energy from high acidity, with cool herbs, sweet spices, blue floral tones, and red berry fruit, with the wine medium in body with firm tannins. I could see this wine being interesting with age as the tannins integrate and as the wine hopefully opens up a bit.

    Original Note From Day 1: The '19 Villero is probably my preferred wine from Brovia this vintage, but as with the other wines in the lineup, it falls far short of the magical 2016 or 2013 versions of this wine in my opinion. Compared to those vintages, the '19s from Brovia lack depth, complexity, and sweetness of fruit.

    The Villero opens with attractive, very cool toned aromatics of red and blue berry fruit and floral tones, cool herbs, sweet spices and anise, mint, and orange peel. On the palate, the Villero features firm tannins and high acidity, but is medium in body and a bit lacking in concentration of fruit. That said, I found more depth here than in the Ca'Mia tasted alongside it. Cool, blue toned fruit and red roses, cool herbs, and spices flow across the palate until firm tannins clench on the finish, which is short and lacking.

    I clearly preferred the Villero next to the Ca'Mia, while compared to the Rocche, I think I prefer the fruit tones of the Villero, but the Rocche seemed more complex and perhaps will age better. But to be honest, none of these wines are worth buying in 2019 in my opinion at the going prices.

    I've had these wines opened a few hours, letting them sit in the glass for a while, but I will update later if they show differently with more air or on day 2.

    Floral and spice driven nose. Beautiful perfume. Rounder more forward on the palate than the Rocche with balsam mountain herbs, and fleshy more forward fruit (in context). More giving spice and floral driven wine. Herbal and with lovely fruit. Little coarser tannins than the Rocche.
