Still kicking, this is almost like a ‘first harvest’ wine. Springtime fresh, sweet berry, graceful lifting nose. Not heavy at all, almost pinot noir-like. This may sound odd and it’s very ready to drink, but overall delightful and retaining liveliness.

Deep purple; aromas of cherry, blackberry and vanilla dominate, with complex background notes of spice and pepper. On the palate, forward plum and red cherry. Obvious but not overbearing oak, and a velvet mouthfeel yields to silky finish of mild tannins and overripe berries. Overall, for my taste, the nice complexities in the wine are out of balance with the fruit (but that's me and Australian Shiraz). Viognier? For mouthfeel, not nose, strangely.
