United Cellars Bordeaux dinner (The Gidley, King Street, Sydney): Dirty glass (sigh) so rinsed a fresh one and chucked my pour in. Low intensity aromas (especially after the boldness of the croix de labrie blanc) show slight apple, cream, butter, herbaceous underpin. On the palate a little apple, medium plus intensity acidity, tangy, very slightly tart tending to sour, textured burr is quite drying, slight non-intrusive alcohol warmth, muted fruit here, with time a little herbaceous note, finishes with woody bitterness. Not very nice drinking experience and not very good value for money

Made of Muscadelle, Sauvignon Gris and Lauzet. Elderflower, soap, gooseberries, a little hint of resin, green grass, orange, white wine gum. Exciting wine - but good luck finding it.

50% Muscadelle (local type) and the rest is a blend of Sauvignon Gris and Loiset. Old-fashioned in style with a slightly cellar-like feeling over tight stone fruit, flower and minerals. Medium-bodied wine with a balanced and pronounced good mouthfeel with stone fruit, green fruit peel, slightly dried herb and a long complex finish. Very classic and traditional in expression, towards the Loire. Maybe a little peculiar, but reference for the area.

Made from Sauvignon gris, Roussane, Semillon. Soapy, peachy, floral (elderflower). Off-dry, lighty oxidised, lemonade-like. Gooseberry, orange, slightly spicy, exotic fruits. Popsicle all the way. Good.
