A most wonderful and complex wine. This was not a cheap wine and so I tried to approach this with an open mind as much as I could. At 6 years old, this is a baby. The first thing that I saw was the goldenness of the colour and a very reductive nose. It was a very viscous wine with very long legs. The nose was sherry like with a hint tropical fruits, gooseberry and white peach. The body was clingy and the taste that lingered for a long time. The body had a hint of nuts, candied ginger, finely integrated oak wrapped by a lovely layer of acidity but quite dry. And the finish was sublime with honey suckle and a fine hint of mango.
So would I have it again? Definitely yes if my wallet can cope with the price... Drink in 5 years from now which will be 2026 and beyond.

Difficult to guess, very unusual blend, Rich, but in harmony, crisp, smooth, a wee bit smoky, there is a lot to find here. Young. 92+ #IB#Palmer1961-night

Served double blind. Pale yellow, initially grassy notes made me immediately think Sauv Blanc, then however also some sweet honey notes and even some bitterness. Very unusual and not very balanced for my taste. Settled on 2015 Loire Sauv Blanc perhaps blended with Chenin Blanc in a ripe vintage. Thought price point around EUR 20. Well this is impossible to guess double blind with those highly unusual grape varietals, and on the price point I suppose the main attraction is that it is very rare and from a big name Chateau...

Americana + James Bond Dinners and Ang and Adrian’s; 11/18/2022-11/19/2022 (Byron Bay): Good and interesting but not in the same league as the prior evening’s Dujac or a good Pessac. Fairly savory style with stone fruit, artichoke and white flowers. Good balance of weight and minerality although not much on the nose.

“Best Bottle” tasting in Fitzgerald, Rotterdam. (By JvT @ Fitzgerald): Bruised apples. Dry and pleasant acidity. No more notes. Not really impressive, but certainly ok.
