  • Well that is the last bottle. I am so impressed. Towards the end some bottles were weak but still occasionally some gems. This last bottle was a great one to finish with. Predominantly plum and prune with some raspberry. Still a bit of tannins giving a pleasant bite. Highly enjoyable.

  • The taint is not complete, but most of the fruit is replaced by dried cork. There is just a touch of dried figs on the finish, but can't say this is a pleasant wine on opening. Will let it air for a couple of hours and see but doubt it'll get any better.

  • Ok, so I guess my last bottle was just one that died earlier. This bottle was fantastic! Opened and decanted for 2hrs then returned to bottle. This one still had a surprising amount of fruit left for being 18 years old. Predominantly ripe plum but some raspberry and vanilla. Delicious.

  • Found this to be a disappointment, having likely sat too long in the cellar and now past its prime. Prunes, mushrooms dominated the nose and mouth after opening and for the first hour post decanting. The mushrooms disappeared over the next couple of hours and prunes, plums and dark fruit were highlighted. The tannins are long gone and provide a feeble finish unfortunately. Have one more in the cellar so will be curious to see if this was just an outlier...but I suspect it's 5 years too late to be drinking! Live and learn.
