a fairly "animale" nose of leather, musk and game come through readily with dark cherry fruit that remains very much intact, still at this stage. The tannin appears to be resolving quite well and entering a nice window of drinkability. This is quite transparent and shows real character. Lots of Beaune earth.

Fairly earthy and stinky nose initially, it dropped a lot of the funk after some airing. Nice fruit, balance, body, and texture - probably a little more to the acid side of things, but a good food match.

At The Great House, Lavenham, Suffolk. No formal note. £85 off the list. Strawberry, vanilla, note of game on the palate which was medium bodied, relatively generous and soft with good acidity and a good length harmonious finish. Unfortunately served a touch too warm, which may have detracted somewhat.

Delicious, and definitely a step up for the previous bottle. Lots of savory fruit, great balance, and nice finish.
