  • Admittedly, the last time I had Chateau Montelena Riesling was around 2012... I recall from that time sampling a less sweet Riesling that I had had prior and was pleasantly surprised. more than 10 years later I purchased current release and experience was similar, but slightly less exciting.

I'd suggest this is what you should expect. I light, high-acid wine with aromas for me of lemon, apricot and maybe a hint of spice in the tast -- as in nutmeg or cinnamon but very faint. I get more sweetness in this bottle than I expected. I liked the smell and the taste as a easy patio wine with good flavor. however, I think the sweetness level was a little higher than I had hoped. I have a few bottles and will enjoy a glass or two with friends. Its not wine that I'll need to think about much...and thats kind of a nice change from trying to disect big napa blends..
