Community Tasting Notes (2) Avg Score: 92 points

  • Notes from day 1, bottle opened for about 1 hour.
    Medium gold in color.
Nose of chalk, honey, dried pineapple, nuts.
Palate of chalk, golden apple, hazelnuts, lemon peel, some mineral.
The finish was above average in length, decent acidity for the age.
Overall the wine is on its last legs, showing signs of oxidation, but still really good.
    Drink: 50+5+12+18+7

  • This was showing more oak and vanilla flavors than I recall from release. Bright gold/yellow; citrus, oak and vaguely nutty aromas on the nose. Med-full bodied with loads of minerals, citrus, and tropical fruit (pineapple) on the palate. Somewhat disjointed, with oak too prominent in the midpalate. Overall very primary, with a very strong backbone of acidity, and I'll leave the other 2 bottles of this alone for a few years.
