  • Day 7. I like to give my new Goodfellas (is that right?) lots of air since I think that’s how Marcus makes them. Light and perfumed nose of cranberries, pomegranate, sandalwood and sweet spices, cherry and dried roses, a little deeper register in the back - earth and a little meaty or soy with some nice stemmy herbals. Palate is tart and crisp. Very red. With cranberry and wild strawberry and cherry. Some spices and florals. Maybe a touch bony and I don’t know if that’s the wine or day 7. Serious acid and fine grippy tannins. The finish is tart with more tannins. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 4.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 15.5/20.

  • Stop in your tracks nose that leaps from the glass, with pure red berries and a hint of anise. Crystalline red fruit that’s deep and expansive in the mouth but light and fresh. Finishes with tannins that dry just a bit. Will probably improve but so damn good now that I may not find out. Decanted for an hour before service.
