For a Cote de Beaune 1er Cru, at 17 years old it has a remarkable youthful color of bright medium red with little or no browning. In fact, the flavor is surprisingly youthful and at its peak. Forward cherry-like fresh flavor. Delicious now. This held up much longer than any Maranges has a right to do!

This was immediately quite lovely and appealing Burgundy. I had the pleasure of opening it with the merchant I bought it from 14 years ago, and he remembered tasting and stocking it but said he’d never drunk a bottle. Nice floral aromatics with tilled soil, black tea, and smoke. I would drink this 2005 monopole now and not hold any longer.

What a diference 12 years makes. Last tried this in 2008 but now it has developed into a beautiful, delicate Burgundy with sly notes of rose petal, lavender, crushed stones. Light and balanced with some length.

Really earthy rustic nose, smells of an old cellar, barn yard and a little stinky cheese. Good flavor, light fruit, smooth, but with a little bite on the finish. A good wine but could use a few more years. Opened nicely after 2hrs decant.

Long cellaring-type cork comes out in one sweep with the A-So. Has slick wall-coating viscous body. Sufficent gradation of color from dense red-purple to a transparent red edge without bricking. Also sufficient energetic tea and cola flavors. Touches of spearmint and herbosity.
Dense flavor and scent; still evolving both flavors and scents nicely in glass. Only started the maturing; will be lovely over the next five years. 2107-2025.
