  • Late night at Maison Dakota with Asparagus. Drank in Grassl Cru.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour with thin garnet rim Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of minerally earth, red spice, lacy red cherries. Developed.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), medium- tannins, medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of lacy red cherries, red pomegranate, minerally earth. spice. Incredibly smooth mouth-feel. Mildly disappointing medium finish. Puts on just a wee bit more weight with moe air with some slight meat and black cherry.
Very good quality. Elegant Corton. I might have guessed Chambolle Musigny 1er in a blind. Good time to drink already.

  • what a difference 6 years makes! from a burly, uncompromising beast to this. from the e get go, this did not look like a Corton. on the paler (red) end of the pinot spectrum. the nose was very feminine. lilac, lavender and very red fruited. and on the palate, it too was very unCorton-like. a lithe, feminine wine that made me think of a Chambolle from a light-handed producer. only downside was that the finish was short. very enjoyable regardless.

  • Strong colour; plenty of red fruits, plummy; remains primary, glossy, integrated, real depth, good backbone, later notes of dry earth provide a sense of seriousness; expansive finish. Complete.

  • Slowly working through a case over the past 8 years. Still going strong with lots of fruit left, though may have plateaued. Dark cherry, plum and hint of raspberry with fine savoury herbs, pine and graphite. Mild acid and long finish with a pleasant slight bitterness - Darjeeling? To me those notes held even after a few hours decanted. Should be another 5 good years here - I'll be back in a year or two...
