  • Absolutely stellar, mature but still fresh, with citrus and butter notes, I understand that some bottles might be ocidized but this one showed freshness, absolutely no sign of oxidation and was so beautiful!

It’s a tricky question how to rate such a wine. This bottle clearly 96, but on average with all the oxidization risk, it might be a different story. Let’s see what story the other bottle in my cellar will tell...

  • Yes another disappointing older Peter Michael Chardonnay. Partially oxidized. To assuage my disappointment, I opened a 2006 Sauzet Puligny Montrachet Les Referts. Delightful. I’d rather play premox roulette with older white Burgs than risk further disappointment with older Cali chards.

  • From magnum. Ugh. A previous note was tepid, but I know we drank a couple of 750s during my posting hiatus that were pleasurable. We kept looking for a reason to open this, and it got away with the move and all. Their top Cuvee white, and in this format, an expensive error. Medium yellow color and modestly oxidized. Drinkable, sort of, but no reason to torture ourselves. This is our last bottle of PM. We stopped buying in the 2010 vintage, and if truth be told, every one of them sucked. But I bought them straight from the distributor and not the winery, so I had some issues that went unresolved. We will look back more fondly on 1999-2009. We had a bunch of good bottles. I'll have to do a hard target search of my notes. I didn't check the flawed/defective box. This one is on me. NR

  • Magnum Collaboration at Claudia Restaurant (Chicago, IL): Good medium color, had the green hue someone noted, good palate feel and taste, a bit sharp on the finish, needed decanting.

  • Golden color, beautiful nose of smoke and tropical fruit, this wine was drinking perfectly, with stony flavors, excellent acidity, delicious fruit and a long smooth finish.
