Glass staining almost black in color with loads of raisins, dark plum, blackberries and licorice that follow through to a full-body, with nice sweetness, silky tannins and a velvety, caressing, layered finish. Just like a well made port. (Drink 2011 - 2027) - JD91

Salil in NYC!: arg... too bad.. i think it needed many years to calm down..but today it underperformed FOR A RECIOTTO...on the other hand the notes of chocolate and cherry were so pure it was hard to say whether the cake (choc&cherry) was more prominent or the wine! accidental perfect match! the middle is just not there right now - but the bitter/sweet combo on the finish leaves a lot of promise!

Rieslings, Rhones and Rhone-ringers at Mikhail's (Count's place, NY): Deep red with a lovely nose of chocolate and cherries. Rich, medium bodied and slightly sweet on the palate with more sweet cherry and raspberry flavours, chocolate and some brown sugar notes with good balancing acidity. Finish has good length. A great pairing with black forest cake!

Friday with Friends and Youthful Wines at Mikhail's (Queens, NY): Deep ruby color. Bright strawberry shortcake nose. Semi-sweet on the palate if I remember correctly, bright acidity and youthful fine tannins. Very nice dessert-style wine with a future ahead of it.
