  • Early oxidation definitely seemed to be the culprit here...or maybe this one just isn't for the books. I did not smell or experience any taint in the wine itself. I almost kind of wonder if that was the style of this particular one. Although the front of the wine was a little hard to get through because it had a lemongrass and kind of a tart sort of a character. The middle and finish started to go more to the citrus peachy and overripe pear kind of side.
Finish was quite a bit more enjoyable but not what I expected from Chassagne Montrachet. A part of me just thinks this one was just out of balance despite surely being able to handle 14 years of age? The person who opened it did not mention any obvious flaws with the cork. I was actually surprised myself as 2005 is a pretty darn good year. Drink 'em if you got 'em!

  • This was a disappointment. The wine just did not have the crisp taste of a Montrachet. It was backwards and just not even close for the price. Give me a cheap LaTour any day.

  • Fruit was too sweet. Good acid. Mellowed out about one hour after opening
