Alma Carraovejas tasting, Jeroboam (Jeroboam HQ): Verdelho, 150-200yo vines, fermentation in oak, 228lt – 600lt Burgundian style barrels, ageing in barrels, 50.000 bottles -/- Showing depth, the oak is there throwing dust on the fruit, ripe white fruit, peach, pear, green apple, grapefruit, some herbal notes, vegetal a bit and with time you get apricot. Palate with strong oak presence in flavor and texture, dusty oak tannins, vanilla notes, almond, walnut, high acidity, very warm from alcohol, density, structured, full body, long finish Needs time, it’s still very tight, overpowering oak

Impressive white from Segovia. Not usual to find a barrel-aged white in Spain, even less from Verdejo grape. Great surprise to start 2024
