I'm always surprised by how much the small amount of Sagrantino dominates the blend. A nice wine, tannin pretty much resolved, and showing less after a few hours, so I think it's towards the end of its drinking window.

I will echo Eric Guido's sentiment that blind, this would never be pegged as from a hot vintage by me. I got red and black cherries and some balsamic notes along with a bit of black pepper in the mid-palate. Tannins are resolved thus giving it the silkiness most seem to notice recently. A strong showing, but I've read before that Paolo Bea shows well and is restrained in warm vintages.

Assertive, but controlled, especially from this hot vintage. Plum and nutmeg, ie, extremely rich, but with an edge of spice. Pairs well with hearty food, especially a bolognese sauce, for example.
Really enjoyed this wine. Bought in Umbria a while back. Plum colored. Not much of a nose. Pleasant integrated and complex wine with muted purple and deep blue fruit. Borderline drink by itself but excellent paired with food. Pleasant finish. Tutto bene.

Was afraid it could be a little 'done' because the vintage was so challenging and so warm. Luckily, we caught it just before---beautifully integrated texture, mature notes of brown sugar, leather, dried flowers. So pleased it was showing well.
