  Very compelling, complete and lovely wine. At Sous les Nez, Leeds, with Peter Sidebotham, Ian Clarke and Alan Petherbridge. Wine of the lunch, for us all, by a distance. Quite pale (no hint of ox of course), and a mealy, but wholly fresh, floral nose. Stunning balance in a light ethereal sense, a delight to return to even after heavier Meursaults, and several Cote de Nuits 1ers and Grands Crus. This is a great wine. My WOTY for 2015.

  Opened 2 hours, but not decanted. Some oxidisation; not yet ruined, although definitely impaired. Still quite enjoyable, and we finished the bottle. But disappointing in the context of the vintage and the vineyard.

  Light gold. Smoke on the nose, and a touch of tar. Not a trace of premox or advancement -- how refreshing! (I believe 1995 was the last of the pre-premox vintages.) After 20 minutes of air, a very delicious, still smoky, complex palate, with assertive acidity, but no longer so mouth-puckering. A very fine bottle, but I guess there is still more to come, and these should be left to slumber for another couple of years.

  Really splendid. Pungent, nutty, succulent, quite intense and complex wine, becoming more admirable and harmonious after a little time in the glass. Green-gold; flowers, lanolin and saddle soap on the nose; a touch of woodsmoke, with intense fruit and acidity in perfect balance. Mouth puckeringly good.
