  • From 375: full garnet color; beautifully fragrant nose of mature dark cherry, sous bois, church incense, and hints of orange peel; eminently graceful, complex and balanced palate; enchanting and super long on the finish. Damn these half bottles! Just when you’re really getting drawn in, that tiny bottle’s empty!!! From (the scant little at the time) original vineyard holdings of Remoissenet, originally bottled under the old regime, before the Milsteins, Kobrand, Halpbern, Repolt and Rovani. Courtesy of one of the “old guard” direct importers of Remoissenet wines back in the day. I still have a bunch of the old bottlings from that era and they seldom disappoint! 93+

  • Much better bottle. I conclude last bottle impacted by poor storage. Farmyard and earth nose, delicate integrated tannin, nice depth, charming aged sweetness on the finish. In a good place, hopefully the next bottle is up to this one. Lovely

  • Nose indicates over baked and stewed fruit. Quite a considerable depth of colour but showing its age now. Body is quite rich and, as the nose suggests, a tad over baked. Stucture and tannin present but wine lacks finesse and complexity. It is rescued by sweet and easy finish of some length.

  • Very nice. Btl with excellent fill, though tattered labels and cork soaked through with slight seepage under foil. Slightly dumb on immediate pour, this brightened and clarified (visually) in the glass almost immediately. Medium, bright ruby with slight browning at edge. Somewhat reserved, but very proper, nose of red fruits with some nice secondary characteristics of autumnal forest, warm earth and slight licorice coming through. Flavors similar with some richness showing the ripeness of the vintage. Good balance. Continued to open up and improve with air for an hour or two and held nicely. Even Bonnie liked it, and she usually doesn't go for Old World reds with age. Quite good and a great deal at $30 at auction.
