Quay lunch (Quay): Melted ruby colour. Seductive red fruits, has a carnal barnyard note; light to medium bodied with ripe red fruits, minerals and smoke, fine grippy tannins with good length. Fruit character on the palate perhaps a touch stodgier than I'd prefer in an aged red Burgundy, unsure if serving temperature contributed to this. In a good spot at the moment, however will look to hold remaining bottles for another 5 years with the hope of further tertiary development. Sufficient fruit and structure to hold if provenance is sound.

SLDS August 2018: Rhubarb, iron, roses, slate and cinnamon. Nicely structured with some good fruit that keeps it from being too tight. Good length and very nice.

Cherry, sweet earthy note. Mid weighted, with nice interest and intensity. Some grip still noted, which was not detrimental to the overall feel. Drinking nicely now.

(Bouchard Père et Fils Volnay Taillepieds) The nose goes a little deeper than the Fremiets with darker shaded fruit. There are still plenty of tannins, a little astringent but also a little finer. More flavourful and with a little more dimension of higher-toned fruit on the palate.

Still some tannins here but drinkable now. Strawberry flavors on the palate. Great stuff.

Looking quite good now. Pinot fruit mixed with a mineral tautness and a touch of spice.
