Wine meet – Chambertin @ Lars: This is still on the young side with noticeable tannins and will clearly improve with time. Some plum, pepper, brown spices and a hint of bitterness at the end. More complexity and length than the Charmes and Latricieres tasted alongside but less balanced than the Latricieres at this point.

BYO: Cherries and green herbs/spices and it feels dominated by stalks. Has a slight sweet touch but the tannins are very harsh. Clearly need a lot more time in the bottle to open up. Still very young and there is plenty of room for improvement.

(Potel Nicolas Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze) A step-up in just about every direction. The nose is wide and interesting and the palate delivers both depth and dimension. Like the 2005, this is another super Bèze chez Potel.

Really nice drop of Burgundy. Everybody liked it. Colour good red. Nose burgundy fruit. Initial taste strong with tanin and fruit comes through

HDH Clos de Beze dinner. Way too early, but a lot of potential.

Upfront sweet cherry nose. Medium bodied, very balanced, fruity and very long finish.
