I admit that I am on a crusade to promote the wine of Cahors. It seldom fails to please and (almost) always manages to tick all my boxes. In my opinion the Cedre Heritage punches well above its weight (I'd love to try their top of the line wine some time - it must be spectacular). Opened half an hour prior to drinking and decanted directly into a glass. Fabulous nose full of promise and an immediate shot of liquorice/anise on the palate. As the wine developed there were layers of old leather and tar, with just a background hint of red fruit. Very little tannins or acidity (extremely unusual for this variety at only 8 years of age), but the flavour fills the mouth and more than compensates for such absences. Some persistence of flavour, but most definitely on the decline. Drink now and buy another (later vintage) bottle. An extremely reliable and affordable wine.

Dark ruby red, some earthy aroma, great over 3 days with tannins definitely quieting down on day 2 and 3. Enjoyed with salmon and french onion soup. From Finewine in McLean.

(Chateau du Cedre Cahors Heritage) #3; VaynerPAZZZ; COLOR-dark; NOSE-a little tight and awkward; picking up a chalky Kirsch Royale component; dusty; PALATE-very chalky; heavy sour cherry component on the finish; a little one dimensional w/ the chalkiness and old, tired fruit isn't good; just not delicious; WS-88; GV-77

Not too bad. Drink now. Went well with slow-cooked beef.
