Opened and double decanted two hours. Lovely smooth merlot, hint of spice, and a bit of tar/licorice and herbal nose. Not much fruit, but drinking well now.

Very dark color. Closed nose at the start, after some air red fruit, licorice and underbrush. On the palate dominating tannines, lack of fruit. Became softer after a while (4 hours), but the fruit never showed up as I expected. Finish medium but to much tannines. This wine has the caracteristics of the 2002 vintage.

This is a good wine, relatively ripe, with notes of cherries and other red fruits as well as dry fallen leaves. To me, it is not as good as the '99 Fieuzal I tried it alongside.

Typical softness of Bordeaux merlot. Spicy French oak and hints of blue berry and chocolate on the nose. A bit high in acidity as expected for a Bordeaux. Great to have with food. It showed spectacularly at Fogo de Chao (Brazilian Churrascaria). Drink now-2010.
