| | Tasted by Margauxguy on 12/7/2009 & rated 95 points: Spectacular, tight and grippy out of the bottle, opened to cold and drank 2 quick. An hour later glorious, rich, almost sappy. Very fruit forward, grip went away and a lovely round rich long mouth profile. (448 views) |

| | Tasted by Anonymous on 10/5/2009: nice wine, although the tannins are still a bit rough but this wine could continue to develop for ages (677 views) |
| | Tasted by Jack on 10/3/2009 & rated 92 points: Not enough experience with DV to know but this seems to still be a little closed. Tannin has faded and a good dose of acid shows through some nice fruit that is a little on the tart side. Smooth and good now. Hopefully the fruit holds and doesn't get overpowered by the acid. | | Tasted by Anonymous on 4/28/2009: 1994 and 1997 California Cabernet Retrospective (Chicago, IL): Out of balance nose, almost 1998 in style with not unattractive dark fruit but a green edge. Raw, hard tannins to the palate, and finishes somewhat alcoholic. Better and more streamlined with time. Not consistent with previous bottles. Rated 13/20. (1006 views) |
| | Tasted by ikkaariainen on 4/14/2009 & rated 93 points: Greatly enjoyed this wine last night at the monthly meeting of the Hickory Wine Club at Lake Hickory CC as part of a '92 - '97 vertical tasting, what a flight. Big and surprisingly bright bouquet of oak, currant and plum. Inky black, very well balanced, very full bodied and complex with enough tannins remaining for a few years of cellaring. Primary flavors included cassis, blsvk currant, oak, granite and black pepper on an unbelievably long aftertaste. Very very good, highly recommend this wine. (1099 views) |
| | Tasted by jaylew1 on 11/10/2008 & rated 86 points: Very disappointing. Recently had the 1996 and it was singing. In wonderful balance. This bottle never opened up after several hours in the decanter. Tasted a bit prune-ish and dry. No life in this wine...compared to the remarkably good 96. (1373 views) |
| | Tasted by Anonymous on 9/29/2008 & rated 95 points: Opaque, black-purple core fading to violet at the rim. Restrained nose that is complex but a little hard to delineate. Primary for its age. Notes of cassis, black fruit, cedar and chocolate come through. Fat and full-bodied with juicy blackberry and well integrated oak. Neatly balanced. Great finish. The tannins mostly buried but this has the underlying structure to last for what seems like a decade or more. Time will tell. (1311 views) |

| | Tasted by Spencer on 7/17/2008 & rated 92 points: Still amazingly young and backward. With aeration (and warming up from the cold cellar temp) this started to open and show some complexity on the nose. Firmly tannic, with plenty of stuffing to age another 20 years. (1515 views) |
| | Tasted by cadamson on 4/19/2008 & rated 97 points: More or less the same as a year ago. Fantastic all around. Nose of cigar, spice, plum and dark berry, long finish with tastes of currant, plum, blackberry, some red fruit, mint. Great. (2053 views) |
| | Tasted by Anonymous on 3/31/2008 & rated 95 points: rich, without any frills and a beautiful texture. seemingly at the top of it's game. highly recommended. (2328 views) |

| | Tasted by Nanda on 3/15/2008 & rated 94 points: Saturday Night Wines (Chris' Place): Full throttle nose has loads of licorice, currants, herbs and a hint of green pepper. Smooth palate is full-bodied with sweet fruit, fine tannin and lifting acidity. In a great place. (2434 views) |
| | Tasted by Monrovino on 3/4/2008 & rated 85 points: Not great. Still very tannic yet muted fruit. (2674 views) |
| | Tasted by Anonymous on 2/9/2008 & rated 93 points: CT Group Revisits 1994 Cabernets @ Home (Milford): I remember commenting how I derived little pleasure from Dalla Valle wines in their youth, but the more I try mature examples, the more I gain repect for them. This was the easy winner of the flight, with a solid block of fresh, youthful, black fruit and juicy, fine-grained tannins. Perfect balance and supremely enjoyable. (2697 views) |
| | Tasted by Anonymous on 1/31/2008 & rated 92 points: Enormous bouquet. A lot of sun. A lot of sweetness. Black ripe fruits. Oak. Sweetness and good acidity as well. Black chocolate, concentration. Eucalyptus. Cherries. Extremely full bodied. A little overdone. Lacks elegance, but certainly is a great wine. A mouth full. Easy to score it very high. I miss the real finesse a bit. (2331 views) |
| | Tasted by Anonymous on 1/25/2008: Seems a bit younger than the last bottle of this. Rich dark fruit still not taking on any real secondary characteristics. Quite structured. Very nice. (2609 views) |
| | Tasted by zimmy07 on 1/2/2008 & rated 93 points: great balance and fruit to tannin structure. dark fruits, cedar and mint on the aftertaste. in a great drinking window now (2732 views) |
| | Tasted by Anonymous on 12/31/2007: Rich dark fruit flavors - plush, round texture with a minty note on the finish. Ultrafine tannins. Still quite fresh. Somewhere between a classic and modern style. Very good. (2866 views) |
| | Tasted by Bressler on 12/30/2007: drinking like a mature cabernet. I think that the estate is actually drinking better than the Maya at this point (2868 views) |

| | Tasted by MarkC on 11/23/2007 & rated 95 points: Damn, this was good stuff. Dark color, with a classic Cab nose of cedar, some currant, eucalyptus. The nose also showed coffee and leather. The palate was lush, the tannins are still there, but taking a backseat to the still present fruit. Secondary characteristics of tea and leather were at the periphery of a core of strawberry and currant. One of the best "aged" Cabs I've had - truly stellar. May actually warrant another point, but the points don't really matter when something is this good. (Should also be noted that this wine was opened 24 hours ago, half of it was drunk, then it was gassed and recorked.) (3138 views) |
