  • In an excellent place; charred meat and red fruit aromas, a note of forest floor, complex and integrated but by no means tired. The palate carries beautiful red cherry, game-meat, charred thyme, old toasted barrel and dry tobacco, deliciously poised between developed character and fresh fruit. Life in this yet, although it is very much at it's peak.

  • The nose showed depths of earthy dried cherry, leather, wild herbs, brown spice, cedar box, and lifting dried floral tones, in a mature yet wonderfully fresh expression. On the palate, silky textures soothed the senses, as a staining of red berry fruits, hints of earth, minerals, light acids, and spice slowly saturated. So pleasant and ready. A bit of inner animal and earth. The finish was long, tugging at the cheek with lingering acid and tannin, resonating dried cherry, inner florals and spice. The 2004 is pleasant and in its drinking window, but still quite vibrant and in no fear of decline.

  • Purchased in the 2008-2009 timeframe, stuck it away for a rainy day. Well today in Napa hardly raining, but a bit of crying for a Bruins (hockey) fan. A loss, but this wine saved the evening. It was in short fantastic given my expectations. All of the Chianti Classico elements came together with great fruit, a little (and I mean a little) bit of funk, tremendous acidity and overall after 13 plus years in the bottle just wonderful. If I had blind tasted I would have said something more recent, held up that well.

If you still have some, drink with pleasure, but provided the provenance of the bottle is sound, I’d say you’ll get 3+ more years out of it.

  • Bonne bouteille, fruitée, légèrement fumée, complexe et encore relativement jeune, à boire dans les 5 ans

  • Jetzt trinkreif! Kein wirklich typischer Chianti Chlassico (Holz)! Sehr stoffig und würzig, fast etwas opulent! Aber schön!!! Mir gefiel er etwas jünger noch besser! Trinken bis 2020 oder wohl auch länger!?
