Barolo 2004 with the Jeroboam Club (Little Shop and Pantry, Bristol): Bright ruby-garnet with bricking at the rim. Balsam and liquorice on first sniff, then ripe red cherry and cherry lozenge. A well-judged glossy oak veneer. On the palate, open and giving, well balanced with refreshing acidity, resolved and barely perceptible tannins. Overall a very nice, modern styled Barolo, drinking well now if not truly exciting.

Michele Chiarlo Azienda Vitivinicola (The Wine Summit at the Post Hotel in Lake Louise): Noticed more garnet hues in the color; quite full on swirling; broader based aromas - smoke, vanilla, some licorice and dark berry fruit; not as attractive as the 2005 on the palate - quite stingy on the fruit- acids form a good frame; just a moderate finish, but nothing notable.

Medium red with slight appearance of oxidation. Mild nose with quality levels of stone fruit. Spicy, fine tannins that are hiding the fruit. Defintiely needs time in the bottle.

Scelini fedeli with jorges and olgins. Very spicy. Tar, pepper and tobacco. Very high alcohol content. Could be lit on fire.
