  • Probably a little over the hill. But really not bad. I can definitely the red cherry core, even some black cherry dust and chocolate-covered cherry cordials. This was much darker than that. Slightly overripe black fruit, medium to full-bodied wine. Was a little bit disjointed right after the cork was popped. This one was much more a black licorice, fig, slightly nitrogenous, even a little bit foresty right at the start. Really did much better after an hour. Finished with a floral bouquet and some white pepper. I can definitely tell that the years where this one was the most robust are pretty much gone. Very fun wine nevertheless, despite the fact that it is probably a couple of years on the backside. I would drink these within the next couple of years because I can definitely see them starting to slide down the hill.

  • Dried cherries, spice and leather on the nose -- really good and rich. Palate is spicy, meaty, mushroomy, with tingling acid throughout. Has a definite tannic ending that carries on. Has done well with the added age. Could easily carry on beyond 2017, but for me this is my last.

  • This is an awesome wine with a excellent PQR (or is it QPR). (I bought it for about US$25 in 2009.) Uncorked in Feb 2017, I was worried that it was past it's prime, but after letting it sit for about an hour after uncorking, it was one of the better wines that I've had in the last few months. (Note--these have been well-cellared.)

  • Jammy black fruits with layers of cedar on the nose. The palate is also a little jammy, though not cloying because of great acidity. The tannins are completely dissolved, giving just enough structure to the finish for the wine to stand up. This is just the right age for such a New World wine.

  • Garnet red color, earthy dark cheery aromas, light-medium weight, mostly mixed cherry fruit, a bit of herbal earthiness, no noticeable tannins, short finish. Pleasant enough but nearing the end of the drinking window we think.
