I know…an insane number. But this was an insane wine, and I sorta wanna give it 100. Carefully decanted for heavy sediment, and served to a very experienced wine group. Really, it’s as if this bottle time traveled to our glasses. The color was astounding. Just by that alone you could be fooled into thinking it was a 2010. I accused the provider of getting it from Rudy. Fully integrated, as smooth as silk. One of the best Nebbiolo’s I’ve ever tasted. No way you find another bottle this perfect, unless maybe from the deep cold corner of the Ceretto cellar. Every once in a while the planets align.

Possibly a tad corked but I didn't notice that. Needed decant but also fell off towards the end. Similar to my first bottle of this. Light color, deep riserva flavors. Shows the big vintage.

Hospice Auction Wine Night (Samish Hill, Bellingham, WA): The first black winter perigord truffles of the year, and the generosity of the donors called for a nice old nebbiolo. I had stood this up months ago, and it decanted perfectly clear using a decanting stand six hours before serving. It's remarkable fresh for a 57 year old. Beautiful old nebbiolo nose, but some sneaky fruit remains on the scents and flavors. Mostly herbal earth, tar, and mushrooms, plus some sweet red fruit.
