Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Very pale looking in the bottle, but the cork was in fine shape and the level just into the neck.

Pale red-brown in the glass with clear oranging at the rim. Relatively bright.

The nose is certainly showing some age with mushroom scents having a clear presence, blending towards coffee/smokey with aged cherry fruit sitting in the background. Swirling releases some orange to join in and the whole is enjoyable.

The wine is unsurprisingly light bodied and delicate with the fruit coming a little more to the fore. There is vibrant (but not unbalanced) acidity carrying a soft but long and quite complex finish.

I do enjoy these fading old wines, with subtle charms and ideally suited to (many) foods.
