VinoLaprisco Tasting (Restaurant De Karpendonkse Hoeve *, Eindhoven, Netherlands): Paired with the Saint-Péray 2014 from Domaine Auguste Clape. Medium deep yellow colour; deep if restrained nose, hints of honey and spices, candied fruit, mineral depth; quite a weighty palate, touch of oak, hints of yeast and cream from the bâtonnage; good length, with some back-end heat. Remarkably fresh and lively for age, holds up effortlessly over 24 hours in the open bottle. Best enjoyed for its rich flavours between 12ºC and 14ºC.

After a rather disconcerting, prematurely oxidised bottle recently, this one is once again in excellent shape. At ten years of age, this low-acid wine is still going strong, and is now just as much about structure and texture as about flavours and aromas. The latter ones are not to be discounted however, even if they have become subtle with time rather than exuberant - they are really complex, with notes of acacia, honey, a hint of oak, fresh hay, bubble gum, white flowers, butter, granite, Turkish delight and roses on the finish. The palate is full and confident, satiny, with almost creamy oak tannins and a cool mineral core. The finish is light but length is very good. Amazing for what it is.

Lovely wine. Lots of ripe stone fruits, apricot and greenish plum. Light honey and white flowers. Something like hazelnut or almond extract. Plenty acidity and lovely body. Good length. Lots of pleasure.

Good colour, intense, medium-deep, relatively light for age; over the years it has simmered down a bit and its flavours and aromas are now more subtle, but it is still very lively, carried by its freshness and granite minerality; flowers, herbs, citrus fruit, hint of spice, butter, nice weight, good length. Fully mature; no hurry. Drink now - 2017.

Herbs, honey and flowers; warm and juicy, good weight and balance, ripe acidity, minerals; subtle finish with good oak, exemplary.
