From the depths of the lockers- a wonderful surprise. Medium red brick with some aubergine tint. Cherry, dried cherry flowers, mint chocolate, coffee, herbs (thyme?) earth, mushroom, and a whiff of spice from oak barrels. Clearly Italian, and now I know IGT something like 50 cab/ 50 sangio as I look it up to enter the note. Dare I say Italian elegance? Frankly I have no idea where I obtained this bottle- but time has been it’s friend. From a time that many Italian were not so clean, but no funk. Well balanced - good acid/fruit- and very enjoyable with GREAT burgers and Calabrese sausage - Shout out - A Cut Above butcher in Santa Monica. Impressed.

I believe this is equal parts Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, the Sangiovese is showing more in this bottle. Ripe cherry fruit, forest floor, mushrooms, leather. Betsy and Dave are both surprised when I tell them it's 27 years old. Solid fruit, holds well over length of game, maybe not very long. But interesting and not particularly fragile, which is good because I accidently have 2 more. B

live, but less vital than a bottle last year- tasted more like tired Cab than the lively Tuscan I remembered.
