Community Tasting Notes (5) Avg Score: 90.2 points

  • This bottle really showed the importance of storage and provenance. This bottle was bought upon release from the agent and stored in a proper cellar since then. In my view, this bottle had another 3 to 5 years to reach its peak and them life beyond. The level was still in the neck, but slightly lower than high fill. The colour is more like 5-year-old wine, medium to deep garnet, no hint of fading at all. Dark red and black fruit on the nose, the cabernet showing its presence but the forest floor of the Sangiovese also came through. The palate is bright, fruit driven with soft ripe tannins still showing. Long balanced finish. May deserve higher score in the future.

  • A bit too old. Lost some character but still had traces of plum and wood. Almost no tannin.

  • for $70 this aged bottle was just in the right place. it didnt mind 2-3 hours of air in the decanter. lovely juice.

  • Chalk, charcoal, hint of licorice, dark fruit, cherry-like acidity, hint of exotic spices... quite fresh, balanced, a bit tart maybe, but I like that. I get the impression this could still improve somewhat. The fruit for this now goes in the Desiderio.
