Opened in Hong Kong. Provenance ex-Domaine, P&P and enjoyed over dinner.
This was a really pleasant surprise! Gorgeous golden yellow colour. The nose is sweeter than on the palate, and there were a myriad of floral and fruity notes mixed with petrol and rich caramel. Still somewhat fresh on the palate with great acidity. A real treat to try this and thanks to C for sharing with everyone!

Dinner/tasting, no extensive notes. Lively and fresh, showing extensive oxidative aromas and flavors, also orchard fruit and spice. Past peak today, still an impressive showing for this 46 year-old bottle. Cork indicates bottle was refilled at the winery (rebouche) in 1989.

Lots of sediment, which I love when producers will let a white wine sed out and not filter it. Adds such richness. In this case, like one CTer noted, a mustiness, very slight yeastiness. It tastes old. Full bodied, fairly darker gold. This was off dry, tasting like it had an RS of 15-20 maybe, but such great acidity still that the sweetness effect is so much less than a Sauternes of even 10 years would be. Nicely paired with blue cheese. My favorite wine of several great bottles opened over a long dinner with friends.

Whtile colour, nose and much else was as other reviews have eulogised, this was sadly let down by a curious bitter finish which has inevitably brought the score down.

WineBox 10y - Master class – ‘Alsace: Fruit & Terroir – Side by Side’- Jean-Frederic Hugel: Again clearly noticeable we see the wine retained the character of the vineyard.
Golden yellow with developed nose of baked apples, on the palate the same baked apples plus that flinty smokey character – absolutely mesmerizing, left speechless the audience
