Community Tasting Notes (2) Avg Score: 90 points

  • Still waaaaay tooooooo young. However, somewhat approachable with translucent purple to the rim. Medium legs, cherry fruit on the nose with smoke and bacon fat. This wine evolved nicely in the glass with nice medium mid palate of fruit and spice, smooth tannins and acidity with little spice on a soft finish. Needs more bottle time yet still approachable now.

  • Deep ruby and very closed at the moment. Lots of funk and strawberry notes upon opening that evolve into your typical pinot/cherry aromas. All kidding aside, this is a bit of a conundrum; it’s a total tannic beast, even after 6 hours of air and aeration. Drinks like a young Barbaresco w/o the floral and liquorice notes. A ton of structure, I just hope the fruit will stick around. I won't open another until 2013. I’ve intentionally not rated this as I just can’t tell how this will turn out and I don’t want to bias a score based on my expectations. As I purchased this on sale so I’m not that worried if it doesn’t work out but it will be educational at the very least.
