Typical Nero d'Avolo. Has a nice, spicy nose and a flavors of licorice and black cherry on the palate. Medium-bodied, short finish. A nice pizza wine. Simple but tasty.

Ordered with Sicilian meal at Beccafico in Venice. Dark brick. Nose of blackberry, cherry, pepper, cedar, and spice. Fruit-forward palate of ripe dark and red fruit with spices. Nice length. Mild tannins. Food-friendly acidity. Really liked it.

At Carluccio's: in a noisy cafe, this was just the thing to accompany a bowl of pasta - vibrantly fruity and spicy - modern, but good
