  A little b'day surprise for Xavier94: This was smoky and "bloody" with great aromatic clarity; smoked meats dominate with sweet spices; the one "fault" for me was that I could exactly match the blood iron character to the taste of a "flat" oyster, the iron minerality and iodine forward while lacking the salinity you want from a fresh shucked oyster (not a bad oyster, just a flat one). That distinct quality brought my score down a couple points though the cured meats and brown sugar thing still made this very enchanting. No hurry for me to open my one bottle of this left - it has a better fill level. (Still loving the half-bottles of the '78, they're disappearing fast!)

  another lovely Birthday treat!! Lots off charcuterie on the nose with iron and blood-type minerality. Bon fire smoke with soil tones, moss and a good base of aging cherry fruit. Lots of ample structure still. Lively for 69 (or so I initially thought). A lovely treat! Yum.
