Post-Thanksgiving Dinner (Tim and Elliott's Place, San Francisco): 50% Syrah and 50% Cabernet. Deep ruby color; nose is moderately aromatic with melange of red and black fruits, some spice; full bodied, still some medium tannins, approachable, black and red fruit, nicemedium acidity, well balanced; medium finish. Nice drinkable wine, though not much complexity. 88-89

Last bottle consumed over a year ago with David and YJ Louie. Popped and poured which is too bad as this wine really needs at > 1 hr. in decanter. Anyway, a bit disjointed and mute. Hints of tart red berries and some earth. The acidity really stood out but seemed more angular and out of sorts. Finish was medium. Too bad given what I know of this wine and what it can be if given the patience to allow the wine to open.

Had this with David Louie and family. From memory. Decanted for ~1 hr. Beautiful wine. Initially smelled like bright cherry juice but with time, beautiful sour cherries, plums, cassis, earth, leather aromas. Palate follows with more earth, a bit of funk, and a great pepper note undergirded by sweet chewy tannins. All of these flavors interplay and linger through the finish. Bright, chewy and so full of flavor.
